چکیده

Introduction Many neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease are linked to abnormalities in vascular system. Visualization of the changes in vascular structure is important for early diagnosis and treatment. Blood vessels can be imaged non-invasively by magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) [1]. In this technique shortening of the effective T1 of moving blood provides the vessel contrast with stationary tissue [2]. Improvement of this technique by increasing the vessels contrast and signal to noise ratio is possible by using higher magnetic fields [3]. In this study we investigated the feasibility of performing 3D time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (3D TOF MRA) at 17.6T to image the cerebral vasculature of mouse. Our results show that MRA significantly benefits from ultra high magnetic field (17.6 T) especially to visualize smaller vessels.

Blood Flow Simulation in an Aorta with a mild coarctation Using Magnetic Resonance Angiography and Finite Volume Method

Coarctation of the aorta is one of the five main congenital cardiovascular failures, accounting for 6–8 percent of these failures. This research aimed to simulate the blood flow of a seventeen-year-old male teen with a mild coarctation at one-third of his aorta's descending branch. The simulation was performed by extracting the domain and the input pulsatile velocity signal as the boundary cond...

Assessment of Moyamoya disease with 3.0-T magnetic resonance angiography and magnetic resonance imaging versus conventional angiography.

3.0-T magnetic resonance (MR) angiography and MR imaging were compared with conventional angiography for the evaluation of moyamoya disease in 13 preoperative patients (26 hemispheres) with moyamoya disease (4 males and 9 females aged 21-54 years). The correlation between MR angiography scores determined by modified Houkin's grading system (MRA score) and conventional angiography stages determi...

Successful serial imaging of the mouse cerebral arteries using conventional 3-T magnetic resonance imaging.

Serial imaging studies can be useful in characterizing the pathologic and physiologic remodeling of cerebral arteries in various mouse models. We tested the feasibility of using a readily available, conventional 3-T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to serially image cerebrovascular remodeling in mice. We utilized a mouse model of intracranial aneurysm as a mouse model of the dynamic, pathologic...

Comparison of magnetic resonance angiography, conventional angiography, and duplex scanning.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE To determine the accuracy of magnetic resonance angiography in assessing patients with cerebrovascular disease, we performed a study comparing the results of conventional cerebral angiography, duplex scanning, and magnetic resonance angiography. METHODS From 42 patients, a total of 25 carotid arteries were evaluated by all three techniques. The studies were independentl...

Comparison of spinal vasculature in mouse and rat: investigations using magnetic resonance angiography

Introduction Spinal vascular system is the conduit through which nutrition, cells and drugs access the parenchyma of the spinal cord (SC). This system is severely damaged as a principal consequence of the spinal cord injury (SCI). The initial vascular damage plays a critical role in establishing the course of the well-established postinjury cascade including compromised blood spinal cord permea...
